PROGRAM OBJECTIVES
This Advanced Project Management course is intended for those who understand standard project management practice and are ready to move to the next level of project performance.
PROGRAM CONTENT
- Overview of Project Management: Project Management Life Cycle, Project Management Knowledge Areas, Project Initiation, Project Planning, Project Execution, Project Control, Project Closing.
- Choosing the Project Team: This part covers some things to consider when choosing a project team and how to make the best of an assigned team. Other topics covered include the pre-assignment review, assigning the project work, negotiating for the people you want, and preparing for team problems.
- Managing Project Team : Building a winning team, motivating your team, rewarding your team, dealing with problem team members
- Strategic Stakeholder Management : Develops the skills and knowledge to effectively manage clients and other stakeholders. The ability to determine with some clarity the expectations of the client (eg outcomes and quality characteristics) is regarded as central to achieving successful project and program outcomes.
- The identification and facilitation of value improvements requires the involvement of clients and other key stakeholders and this requires good management
- Quality Systems Planning and Management: Looks into the skills and knowledge required to establish and maintain a quality system that meets the quality requirements of clients, the organisation and suppliers. This involves ensuring policy, processes and procedures are in place which enable project managers to adopt a consistent approach to the management of quality. It also involves processes to enable the quality requirements of clients to be identified and included in the quality plan. The procedure for establishing a sound approach to quality requirements as an inclusion in procurement and contract processes is addressed.
- Strategic Risk Management: Develops a sound understanding of the risk management process and the skills to be able to put in place strategic and operational level risk management plans for the program of projects
- Contract Management: Provides participants with the skills and knowledge to enable them to put in place effective procedures and processes for preparing, managing and closing contracts. The part also addresses procurement processes.
